Comrade Cloete was an outstanding human being. He treated his fellow man with dignity and respect. He valued the input of each and every individual who crossed his path. He was a committed, hardworking and loyal member of our union. He held several positions in the BEC of Elsies River branch. He was the former secretary of the ANC in Bellville and worked to improve the lives of the working class. Comrade Cloete had a very vibrant personality and disposure. He had a great sense of humour and knew how to lighten up the days of his colleagues and comrades. The union lost a strong, honest and extremely brave leader. He was a real pillar of strength in a time of need. His biggest attribute was his commitment and dedication to his beloved union. His friendship and cadreship was greatly valued to those close to him.
